Newspaper Articles

Over the years, The Elvis Presley Collection has been the subject of many articles. Throughout the world, main stream publications as well as coin magazines and periodicals wrote stories on the collection. Although we were not able to compile copies of all the articles that were written, we have managed to put together a small sample for you to review.

These four articles were taken from the pages of various North American newspapers.

The "King Coin" was immediately recognized as a true rarity. No other official mint in the world had ever produced an item like it in the past, nor will they ever in the future. Demand for theses medals crossed over into two areas as Elvis Presley fans had to compete with coin collectors for a chance to obtain one of theses genuine rarities.

These first 4 articles describe the reasons for its incredible notoriety and price appreciation.

Elvis would routinely give generously to many charities, worthy causes and even to total strangers. In keeping with this tradition, Legendary Coins donated some of its most valuable pieces to be used in auctions and as prizes in raffles.

A 1990 financial magazine shares the investment opportunity of the "king Coin" with its subscribers. At this point it had risen to $225 from its original issue price of $79. It soon rocketed in price and now stands at around $900 dollars.

We found this interesting ad in an Elvis publication that was based in London England. We do not know the publication date but believe that it was meant to solicit sales prior to the coins release around 1986. Due to the popular demand for this medal and the abrupt end to the production run, the limited supply made it impossible for it to be sold through wholesalers as was originally intended.

In 1997, the large 10 inch Welcome To My world Medal was prominently featured on a plaque to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Elvis's historic concert at Maple Leaf Gardens.

These three pages were taken from the Royal Canadian Mind's 1990, 1991 and 1992 annual report. The Elvis "King Coin" was included in their worldwide reports because of its continued popularity with the public and to demonstrate the versatility of the Mint.

This last piece is very interesting. A U.S. resident donated one of the "King Coins" to The National Museum Of American History of the Smithsonian Institute where it is on display to this day. As the record indicates, even back in 1989 they felt that it was a historically significant piece that warranted induction into the Museum.
